The Margam Ghost Walk

Steeped in history, natural beauty and wildlife, Margam Country Park nestles at the foot of a steep sided wooded Glamorgan mountain, a few miles from the sea, and the town of Port Talbot.

Its 850 acres of woodland, fields and gardens make it a popular daytime attraction, not least because of its eighteenth century orangery, the finest of its type in Wales, its medieval abbey ruins, and its majestic Tudor Gothic castle.

However, Margam Park’s deceptively peaceful setting masks a tense and tragic past of destruction, shattered dreams, murder, even a curse.  It is not surprising therefore that at night this place takes on a different character.  Its silent and atmospheric stones and rustling trees become the setting for stories of shadowy figures seen and heard.  Its magnificent house becomes a foreboding castle looking down from the hilltop.

Learn of the history, legends and ghost stories of this enchanting location on a walk by torchlight through the grounds. Then we will open the great door and enter the castle, dark and deserted…or is it?

The castle will be lit only by our torches.  We will walk up its famous haunted staircase to the landing.  There we will gather round and take our seats.  Once seated, the torches will go out as we hear the stories of the ghostly happenings of this famously haunted building.  No hype, no gimmicks, just good old fashioned story telling in magnificently spooky surroundings!
